Four Roses Limited Edition 2017
Four Roses tells us that three of it’s “low rye” recipes went in to the making of this limited edition bottle, though 75% corn, 20% rye, and 5% malted barley is still a lot of rye for a typical Bourbon. Since we love the spice rye offers to the Four Roses flavor profile, we’re glad to see it still present in this unique bottle. Taken from 15-year old, 13-year old, and 12-year old barrels, this expression shows us how tasteful blending can create something greater than the sum of its parts. The nose has allspice and vanilla up front, with tart berries on the palate and a long brown sugar and cinnamon finish. A surprisingly rich whiskey. Each bottle is hand-numbered, and when this one-of-a-kind batch is gone, it’s gone forever.
