Barrell Bourbon Batch 10
Barrell Bourbon Batch #10 shows the extraordinary impact that a unique aging environment can have on a bourbon whiskey. Distilled and aged for 1 year in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, then moved for 3 years to Kentucky, culminating the last 4 years of time in Michigan (for a total age of 8 years.)
While in Michigan, the barrels saw an extreme annual shift in temperature, but only a subtle diurnal (day-to-day) shift. The resulting bourbon is intensely fruit forward, with distinct peppery and candied orange peel notes. Less dark caramel is present and the palate is nuanced, much like the brandies of central Europe, but with the same distinctly corn-focused base as the other Barrell Bourbons we have come to know and love.
Bourbon #10 has a high rye mash bill, drinks with more vigor than other Barrell expressions we have seen, and sits at fiery 122 proof. Enjoy with a splash of water!
